It's barried up (ok, plenty are so maybe not just that on its own).

It's "mega fast" - well over 300bhp". So basically he's bullsh1tting and hasn't the foggiest on what power it's running. No mention of a remap for proof of power so could be running rich/lean and standard power still (even a remap done by himself seeing as you said it was so easy ). Just a boost controller but no information regards who fitted it.
"Large turbo" - eh?

Any car with cheap stick on tat and a write up like that would/should instantaneously put 99% buyers off

As said, another eBay moment.

The front/rear lights and roof vent tell me enough without even reading the advert.

Ah, good not just me then. I can see past stick on tat which is easily removed with a heat gun and/or spanners. But the engine mods and general lack of information makes this IMHO an eBay special.

I'm glad you actually agreed, I thought Scoobynet had finally turned then with Toneh's response

So youve decided to judge it on looks ( which is personal preference issue)
And what you could say a brief eBay description
I'm guessing you don't know the car or the owner and just decided of the little amount of info given its bs , yeah it may well be , then again might not
How do you know ?
And btw yep mapping is easy and you wouldn't DIY map that car
Because DIY software does not support it

Where did I say I was judging on looks? My first sentence actually said I was doing the opposite BECAUSE cheap stick-on tat can be removed But if you want to focus on the looks, the general concensus of cars which look like this is that the owners talk figures out of thin air, air which has protruded from their back passages. I very much doubt this is the exception to the rule...

A 'brief' description? No, clueless bullsh1t more like. If you have a car running "well over 330bhp" and that is "mega fast", (and the guy himself has claimed the car was a hobby) then you would think a little more detail to substantiate his claims would be warranted. That's why I call bullsh1t on his figures, especially given it has boost anf fuelling controllers over an actual remap.

If i saw any advert saying done by a diy mapper, id stamp it bollocks and sent it back, no way id take a chance on a unknown mapper although he maybe quite competent, but my money says otherwise and id rather pay extra

I remember last September seeing (my now) Impreza wagon for sale at £1,395 Admittedly rusty rear arches are just becoming an issue but it was totally standard when purchased - not any more though under the bonnet.

Don't have much choice with an advert like that do you?

So if that car goes for £1500 your saying it's not worth it ?
It's ok looking and pointing out a motor and saying it's all bs but you've also got to take price into account
It's not like he's asking 5k is it

So by some skewered logic, a £1500 quid car can have an advert like that as its not a £5k car.

The hypocrisy is strong in this one..

I personally don't think the advert is what I would describe as over the top with bs
No worse than the hundreds of cars that are described as mint only to discover they are sheds when you go and look at em
Show me a car dealer that don't come out with a certain amount of bull when it comes to selling
Tell me you know for fact that car is not running a safe 300ish
And I'll go back to cutting my toe nails

Not with that I/c and injectors it isn't...240-280 tops IMHO..tbh...I'd buy that and make it better as I can see the potential, but not at that money and not from that part of the country

We'll agree to disagree on your first sentence.

Regards his car running "well over" 300bhp, (not 300ish safely as you said), with just boost/fuel controllers, I am always dubious about this as are others. You spend many ££ on supposedly getting your car to this power but don't even have it mapped for the mods? Or fit a simple controller to deal with 40-50% more power. Past experience makes me dubious of that.

If you think a certain amount of bullsh1t is to be expected or even accepted (regardless of whether dealers do or do not do it), then that is a further enditement against the sinking ship that is the Subaru brand

Enjoy cutting your nails, I'm off to bed

Right just read through the ad again
He lists the mods , fair enough seems ok
He says it's fast over 300 , maybe ( we don't know )
It's been his hobby , that doesn't mean he's done the work
There are plenty of guys on here that have modded scoobys as a hobby and the most they have done themselves is wash it
The only thing you have to go on in that advert that may be bull
Is the hp figure
So like I said you don't know , you're guessing it's not 300ish when you could also guess it is

There are some harsh critics on here. While too garish for some tastes the car has a tidy engine bay and clean interior, 10 months tax and a year's Mot. The seller has probably done himself no favours with the OTT description (which may actually be genuine) but for £1,500? Unless the engine is a wreck it would be a decent punt for little money.

If you can look past all the tat he's stuck on and the garbage he's written in the advert, it looks a nice clean car.
