Morning/Afternoon lads + lasses

I currently own a Ford RS, but have had sooo much trouble as of late L Economically its just not worth it anymore. I am going to finish it off and sell up. The missus and I want a fairly serious car, of course with suitable performance. As of which, I have been considering the following marques

Scooby
Mitsi Evo 4/5
Supra TT

Now my budget is going to be around 15/16k

What decent Scooby could I pick up for this. Pls bear in mind I am fairly new to suburus. I know the main types and models, but would like some help from you guys. I particulary like the 3 door scoobs, and the one with Flaired arches (22b isn’t it?) I basically would like to know the best model and year to look for, for my 16k limit. 280 brake would be the most favourable option

Thanks for taking time to read this guys and I hope you can help me

If there was a clean 22b for 16K there would be a crush to shame the Harrods Sale

Other 3 doors are imports, unless u go for a P1 and even they haven't quite halved in price yet

Like i said, scoobs arent my forte. What are the 3 door models? other than the 22b and P1?

or the 4 door WRX's? would like perhaps white, blue or silver

Thanks for the help

If you want a fast A to B car get the Scooby or Evo.

If you don't mind having small back seats and LOADS and LOADS of straightline speed grunt and reasonable handling, get the Supra TT. I know which one i'd have (cough *supra* cough).

The only 3-door 280 bhp scoob for that money would be a Jap import, STI V variant. Lotta fun, possible sevicing and definite insurance issues from being Jap. The UK versions (P1 and 22B) aren't down that far yet.

16k might get new or nearly new EU import bug-eye. Better build quality, most think uglier, more comfy.

Or will get you v late (MY99, maybe 00) old model, most think more fun to drive, cheaper interior.

Someone will put up the SIDC FAQ so you can memorise chassis numbers

Of course, I could be wrong, but bored in office so have hazarded a reply!

Cool

Forget the 22b - David Beckham money (30-40k)!

Forget the Supra Twin-Turbo (too mechanically complex).

If i had that type of money i would go for either:

Evo 5 (evo 4 is poor man's Lancer!)
Sti WRX Version 4/5 Type R (3dr model) - Harder to find a V5 for your 15-16k!

Bought my V5 for 17995k with 5k on the clock. Not many around. Had to wait.

Your choice!

as far as uk cars go, 15-16k would get you a very good one definatly x plate, maybe y. ok, so you're down a power a little, but what's that between pals?!?

oh yeah and servicing will be a LOT less hassle as well. suppose if you could go a shade more, you might be able to pick up a supermarket wrx?

Dave,
For £17-18k you may well be able to pick up a cheap Evo 6 for that price. For £15-16k you should be able to get a very good modified Evo 5.

If I was in your position I would buy a slightly older scooby and spend more on mods, getting the car exactly how you want it.

Since I bought mine last year I have spent approx 5k extra

So bear in mind when you see the car you want....will you be happy as is?

Matt, aye the Esc cos was my next choice.. but after all this shyte with the S2 its getting beyond a joke. its one thing after another.. i just dont have the money to keep throwing at it like this.

If i got an escy cos, i would take ot to stg 3 , then 400 brake.. and i would run in to the same probs as the s2.

all i know is the S2 has to go!

For £16k you could get an R33 Sykline GTR.
There was a 450bhp one with a recent full engine rebuild on www.gtr.co.uk for around that sort of money.
Good middle choice between stright line supra or 4wd rally rep.
