Can the roof rails be removed if so are they easy to do

Yes they can and no it's not easy. Trawl google for a "How to" guide.

took them off today and my one was very easy due to there being access pockets on the rails but once off they leave bits missing in the black trim that runs along the roof so i put them back on till i find new ones to replace them
