Default Unusual Problem

Hi guys,

I have an Impreza 2002 non turbo and I came across an unusual problem while driving yesterday.

When the car is in first gear, it has no problems at all but as soon I shift to 2nd onward the car stops gaining speed or power between 1800-2000 rpms.

It would be gradually gain power gradually and then it would hold back around 1800 to 2000 as if someone has applied the brakes just for that interval. As soon as the car goes past the 2000 rpm mark it suddenly gains power with a sudden push.

anyone know whats causing this?

Is the check engine light on ?

Maybe MAF related. Try removing the MAF and giving it a clean. Halfords sell a cleaner that you just spray onto the probe. A pal had a similar issue recently, couple of sprays and it ran fine.
