wish I had kept the car for track days now.longer gearing of mk3 box was great and would rev out to over 100mph in 3rd,125 in 4th but died in 5th unless the road was very long .
big zorst and induction filter put me right in the middle if the VR6's at a rolling road shoot-out.

good plan.I did it to my mk2 golf a few years back .
make sure you get the full engine harness, ecu, coded key with transponder box.I ended up using a MY96 engine with a passat ecu which had the earlier non immobiliser set-up.
a look through the golf mags should give you a few places to try and source parts from.

if the above worked they have a car that might suit.could be the best way as it is a damage repairable and looks complete bar radiator.at least doing it this way you can bolt off one car straight to another and also know that you have everything to start with.my car ended up being off the road for 6months trying to source missing parts which were supposed to be sent with the engine and box .it would also let you swap other bits over like dash and clocks.
