Mystery Component
Hi,
WRX STi Spec D 07/07.
Looking in the engine bay, just to the right of the TMIC and forwards toward the battery a bit, is a round object - about the size of a CD I guess. It has a hose attached which seems to go under the TMIC somewhere.
It has clips on the top, and seems to work for about a minute after start up then switches off.
It's quite noisy and vibrates a bit. It's mounted on 2 or 3 rubber mounts, but what is it, and what does it do?
I don't remember my 54 plate WRX STi Type UK PPP blob having one, but that was 5 years ago!
Cheers,
Matty

Ah ok, thanks. That would explain it's round shape, must be some sort of fan in there.
Does it serve any purpose when the engine has warmed up, or is it just on start up?

Serves no real purpose and is expensive to replace when i packs up. You can buy delete kits and have the CEL code deleted by a mapper. I believe the pumps only run for the first 30 secs after start up.
