Default blow off valve qeustions??

thinking of buying a blow off valve .....had a look at my standard one and seems easy to take off just 2 bolts and 2 pipes one very small and one very large .......i cant work out looking at the new BOV that it only has one pipe fitment for the smaller pipe do you have to block off the big pipe that runs from the turbo surely that cant make sense ????? isnt it where the air runs from to make the noise in the first place????? by the way my standard blow off valve is fitted to front of the top mounted intercooler on top of engine,,,thanks

usually a vta dump valve will come with a bung for one of the pipes.

i wouldnt reccomend buying a bailey one though, if you are to buy one !!!! then go for a forge... hks...turbosmart, type

its a vta ( vent to air) dump valve that makes the sound... it dumps the air out therefor makes the sssssttttiiiissshhhhh sound. a recirc valve (recirculating) basicallly works the same as the standard one

the standard one returns the blown off air back into your system to help it spool up faster when you press the gas pedal.. the Vent To Atmosphere blow off valve ,dump valve alow you to hear the air as it is released ... performance wise the origional set up is best asuming that it is working fine...

Two words of advice: DON'T BOTHER.

The standard recirculating dump valve is more than up to the job. Search dump valves on here and the feeling across the forum is the aftermarket ones are not as reliable or as affective as a standard valve. Some of the more expensive valves as mentioned above work well enough, and can even be adjusted to vta and recirc 50/50.

To be honest I would spend money elsewhere, there is loads that can be done to increase induction noise that add performance

Do a search on dumpvalves, BOV, etc, you will find endless problems with them.
