Question

Noticed last week that i had oil/grease leaking drom the front drivers side diff. Handy as the car was going in last fri for the 60 000, 54 month service.

I have been charged for 30 mins time (£50) plus grease (£30) and wondering:

1. Is this changed as standard for this service so the leak is not an issue and i would have paid anyway?

2. If it isn't a standard part of the service then surely its covered under warranty and i shouldn't have paid - ie since the service history is immaculate and milage is well under av. (44K) it shouldn't be leaking?

PS im not moaning just wondered what the score is? also i have to say that Monks Heath Motors were very helpful + professional as usual - cheers all.....

Unhappy

I was told by my local dealer nearly three years ago that there was a known problem on certain MY's with grease becoming too thin when hot and leaking from the front inner driveshaft joints. The cure was to re-pack with a thicker grease. He almost started the job on my 99MY during the 2nd service when he realised this MY did not (hopefully) suffer from the problem. Just a thought!
