I've commited an eternal sin. I've only gone and done it...
As some of you may know, i sold my 03 Blobeye WRX in March/April to help fund myself and my wifes first house purchase, that's all completed now and we've been in for 8 weeks (i've been driving a £300 saxo VTR for those 8 weeks!) and on Saturday we went food shopping and i came back £7,500 lighter in the pocket. I know i may get ribbed for this, but basically drove past a JCT600 dealership and saw a red Ford Focus ST 225 on the forecourt, immaculate mint condition, one owner, 32k miles, and my wife said oh that's nice (she's never liked scoobies and hated me when i went and bought the WRX) - anyway, i decided to test drive it, and i've got to be completely honest when i say i was blown away. It isnt the quickest i've ever driven obviously, but the comfort, the ride, the sound, and the torque in any gear at any revs was immense. No turbo lag whatsoever, in 6th at 2k plant your foot and it just takes off. Anyway, long story short i ended up buying her there and then, and i pick her up tonight at 6.30pm - my intention was to buy a WRX STI in a few months time, and i never thought anything would change that intention, but this has. I'm sure ill be back to the scooby scene, eventually but for now, this makes a welcome change from the rattly old VTR and it keeps me in the good books at home with the wife

I have an ST and love it as well but hasn't stopped me modifying it more or less straight away and a simple remap transforms these cars.

And? My mate used to have until a year or so ago, a 22 year old Sierra Sapphire Cosworth running 800bhp (dyno confirmed) and that thing was a monster. Subaru is hardly a prestige marque now is it. The fact is, i know i'll be back to Subaru in the not so distant future, but until you have driven an ST you cant imagine how well they drive, i had no intention of buying it, i only test drove it to keep the wife happy, look what bloody happened!

lol, i wont be betraying for long, just long enough for a quiet life. I'll let the mrs drive it for a while, whine about the fuel consumption, then chop it in for an STI. I have plans!!!.... haha

A change is good, but I went the other way, had nothing but fords for 22 years and almost bought another, but a 2 year old st showing rust on the door put me off so I tried Subaru, first a wrx then a jdm sti. Only a focus rs would sway me back, but I really don't think they are worth the money compared to a good sti. I still have my cossie though to keep the ford interest alive. Don't think the st is any better on fuel around town than your old wrx. Enjoy your new toy

I don't think the Fraud Focus had much soul. When Top Gear got hold of this model before release, they put it on a high street and then watched it from a distance. Hardly anyone noticed that it was a new shape. I don't mean to offend you, but it's one of the most boring shapes around.
Scoobs on the other hand demand to be noticed, be it positive or negative.

Haha, that much is true! Just picked it up and really like it, i wasnt expecting a round of applause from a scooby forum, just updating with my new car. I like it and i suppose thats all that matters As for the fix or repair daily, are fixing and repairing not the same thing?!? I could make one for Subaru, does mean it's true. This feels a lot more solid & well built than my 03 WRX ever did, that much is fact.

Yep, he had the print outs and spent an absolute fortune of inheritance on it. Eventually the engine went pop, and he ended up stripping it to recoup some money when his inheritence started dwindelling significantly.
