Serious Advice needed. Car involved in road collision while parked
I'm looking for serious advice on how best to proceed with insurance claim.
I left my Wifes car parked legally on the road and came back to a police notice stating there had been a collision between a moped and a car and my parked car had been hit by one of the two vehicles.
I am a total innocent bystander.
The police will not give me any driver or biker details at present so i have no one to claim from.
Cheers
Andrew
P.s I was told the moped rider was taken to hospital but i was not given any other details.

Contact you`r insurance company before you do anything other than move the car to a safe place and explain to the company what has happened and ask what you should do now.

i spoke to the claims department and they basically said .......
1. i can claim on my own comprehensive insurance for now and then hopefully claim back my excess and full bill from the person who is made liable for the crash (though at present i do not even know if the two parties involved are even insured).
2. I can photograph the damage and start paying for the work, though i need two separate written quotes to begin and then get back to the insurers.

+1 let your insurance company sort it out with the police on your behalf wont affect your no claims as wasnt your fault they will get all relevant info and will probably fight the case with person at fault for you including getting it repaired

You must contact your insurance company asap. Give them ant police reference numbers and let them do the work. Providing the guilty party is insured and your company get there money back you will not lose your NCB as its a no fault accident.
They will then have your car recovered to a repairer of there choice and may even get you a hire car.

Andrew, you can specify your own repairer if you so choose - don't be fobbed off with your insurers 'nominated' repair centre if you would rather take your car elsewhere.
And even no fault claims may effect your next premium.

Get the road crash report number from the police then pass this to your insurance company. They then have to contact the police who will provide them with the details of all involved for a small fee, this is then claimed back from the other parties insurance. Don't let your insurance company fob you off as it's only them that can request the information, the police will only supply you with the crash report number.

I remember sometime ago one of my mates had his old neighbour drive through his fence and into his car and I seem to remember something about a 3rd party claim where if there was no one to pay for the damage it could be sorted out via a 3rd party claim procedure, this did not affect his insurance and he got a hire car, no excess to pay, soliciter etc.... and it was all dealt with for him but not by his insurance company afaik

like everybody as said mate..let your insurance do it all, they will get more info than you will aswell.i had some idiot run into me and wiped one side of my scoob out,she admitted it on sitr but then changed her mind.my insurance sorted it all out.i had to pay my excess to get mine sorted while they was sorting it out with her insurance but as soon as it was proved not to be my fault i got my excess back and did not affect my insurance...good luck..

Best of luck getting everything sorted and if you could do any updates as this progresses then I think this thread may help others in similar unfortunate circumstances in the future
