Default Rusty seat runners....

Hi,

Me again!
I have an 07/07 WRX STi Spec D, and I'm a bit concerned about the rust on the driver and passenger front seat runners.

The driver seat runner is considerably worse, but both have the problem. I took out the mats today for a hoover and that was when I noticed it.

The rust is pretty bad on the drivers side, and is bubbling through the black paint by the 2 front bolts (weeping orange, dry to the touch). Hopefully the interior has not been subjected to deep water at some point.

Nothing on the MOT advisories, not sure if they check such an item, but the driver seat runners in my opinion really ought to be changed.
My only hope is that this rust hasn't spread from the part of the floor the seats are bolted to (or vice versa)

I am concerned about how the runners have got like this.
The car came from Scotland, so perhaps has had some harsh winters over recent years.

Only had the car 3 weeks now.

02 bug with the same thing, would be interested to see how you resolve as I have been meaning to rub down and repaint since I got the car a few months back.

I was just going to sand and hammerite if I'm honest but if you remove and find out more then update the thread

Hi mate - I wouldn't panic - I have a Spec D with exactly the same issue! I think it is just crap finishing from Subaru. It annoys me as the rest of the interior has been kept immaculately - it's just the runners.
