MOT and CEL
Been checking and need some advise. My CEL is on (I know what for), but the MOT is due. I know the DoT brought in some rules about some warning lights. But these don't seem to include a test for the CEL as such (seems to be airbag and some other warning lamps). Did a search and the answer comes back inconclusive or the answers are from before 1st April (when the new rules started).
So the question, from any knowledgeable people, will the CEL being lit by itself fail the MOT (no other warning lamps)?

It depends what the CEL light's lit up for?
A CEL light on is not necessarily an MoT fail but the op may be charged to investigate why its lit up. Hence my question.
If I were him I'd phone up a garage and ask them.

My understanding was that a CEL illumination NOW is still just an advisory, however come August 1st it will be a failure. That's what I was told earlier in the year by an MOT tester.

Yeah i got failed due to light on , and also light not coming on.
If the lights stays on whens its not meant too = fail
light not turning on at all = fail.
I ended up rewiring the dash lights to turn on with ignition then turn off after a few secs then it passed, im sure this isnt the best way round but there is no way my airbag light is ever going to turn off on its own with my momo steering wheel !
