Hawkeye question....
Hey guys
After spending thousands on a MR2 Turbo only for the gearbox to break one special day on a special (typical) roundabout, I decided to get rid (it was costing me a fortune) and drive the trusty old shed for a couple of years (a 2000 Ford Mondeo 1.8) I'm now ready to buy something else, the problem is I'd really like it to be my daily drive.
What do you guys think about a 2006/07 hawkeye with 20k or so miles on the clock? the run to work and back is 25miles each way and all dual carriageway / straight roads so should get reasonable mpg in the week and maybe not so reasonable at the weekend for "enjoyable" driving.
At the minute the shed is getting me about 400 miles to a tank at an absolute push driving like grandma, what would I get out of the hawk eye?
Maybe I could keep the shed and use the hawkeye at the weekend, but that wont be cheap no doubt!
Anybody use them as there daily drive? I hardly see any on the rush hour roads now
Thanks

I get almost exactly 300 miles to 50 liters of fuel when I fill up.
This is in a 2002 WRX.. not what you were asking I know, but might be useful as a guide.

Well just to try and help you, I went from a Rev 3 Turbo MR2 to a Classic Impreza which i bought as a winter hack. I wasn't sure I'd take to it, as I have always really liked RWD cars like the MR2. In fact I have had four MR2's!
But I fell in love with it and its usability. I've tried to drive MR2's in snow and it's a real pain. The Impreza just lets you use it. I liked mine so much, I traded up to a Hawkeye STi and I haven't looked back. I use mine for commuting myself, and although my commute is much shorter, if I could afford the fuel I'd drive it much further every day with no worries whatsoever.
Hope that helps.

I use my 2006 Hawkeye Sti as my daily driver 31 miles each way commute, I get about 230 miles to a tank driving like miss daisy, less at the weekends when having fun .
If I was you I would try and get an earlier 2006 car as these are in the lower tax bracket £270 instead of paying £470 for a later car
They are great as an everyday car though and really practical to use

I have a 2005 wrx and can get 300-400 miles per tank dependant on driving style,
I went to London from Leeds and I managed 360+ doing 80-90 (km)
but if driven hard then I'm in the 200s.
A map will help for better fuel economy.

I have a '56 Hawkeye WRX and with mods like De-resonated centre pipe, P1 backbox and Performance panel filter I used to see 300 miles per tank. Mixed driving but mostly 70 on the motorway.
The tax a year is around £460 for the later ones or the very first Hawkeyes were £260ish for the year. Something to bear in mind.
Very Torquey(??) cars which are a lot of fun. Especially after decat and remap (big grin)

I've never seem more than 180 miles out of a full tank. I have an STi with some tweeks but its a great car for general driving. I use it in town mostly and try avoid traffic. Any car registered after March 2006 would be in the higher tax bracket. This was a factor when I bought mine. I have a 55 reg and I just taxed it for £270 for a full year.

2006 WRX Wagon - taking it very easy I get up to 320 miles from a tank which comes out at about 30mpg I think. Round town / making progress down to 200. Great daily driver with all that torque...
