I want to send a message to a member but not sure how to do this. Any ideas?

Find the persons user name then click it,a dropdown menu will appear then you choose to private message the person ......

Click the username and then "Send private message to ...."

Yes I am aware of this maybe I did not explain it well enough.

If I know the users name how do I access it to send a PM without searching through a thread/posts

Yup search for his username, then when you found it do it the same way.

Tried last night in search but it does not work mate, just tried it with your username & same result I'm afraid!

Click "User CP"

in teh menu on the left of the screen about half way down there is a option saying "send new message"

Just make sure you spell the user's name exactly (including capitals, symbols underscores or hyphens etc.)
