Default Clutch fitting prices?

Hi all!

I just purchased a new exedy stage 2 clutch, and all the garages locally are charging £350 + just for labour costs!!!

I live in the Bexley area of south east London and i dont mind something within a 10 - 15 mile radius.

Many Thanks

Very reasonable.

Out of interest how do you do it. I dropped the box off but read that some prefer to pull the engine out.
Surely it's easier to just get the car in the air and have the box out on its own ?

its actually very easy to do a box in a impreza, last one i done with my 8 year old girl in a tight garage on the floor, someone on here recomended a transmission jack and i swear it just made it soo soo soo soo easy

rather do another box on a impreza than do my clio 172 on the floor due to the sodding subframe

ps: i done mine in my own as i got quoted from 3oo quid to 800 quid due to traction control , most garages over quote as they are not interested in potential hassel

other thing is cheep cheep places 70% of the time make up the saving by either breaking something or just messing you about UNLESS they know the cars they are working on i know a few places that will do better than 300 quid around london area but ilast time i recomended someone,,,,,, i spent new years eve till 10pm fixing the sodding gear selector bush they lost putting it back together

They quote for issues, most places get stuck with the release bearing the first time they do it ,,?,,,,, just like I did lol

See if Kirstystar knows someone as she is localish to you and I'm sure she knows of someone who can do it and do it correctly too

If you have an engine crane like i do, and you don't have access to a lift and you'll be messing around with axel stands under the car, it is sooooooo much easier to take the engine out than the box off, as i have said before because its only the engine mounts to undo and the loom to unplug and rad out, all of which is a damm sight easier, for me anyway, than spending half the day fiddling under the car. Imo

Horses for courses.

My quote is £300 to fit new clutch and flywheel, how does that fair?
Bearing in mind the additional flywheel fitting.
