Depends on what your budget is, personally I'd buy a late 2 litre sti short motor with a nitrided crank

depends on budget , me personally go forged with a reputable subaru engine builder, 2nd hand engines ,you dont know what youre getting.

btw do you know what has caused it, high speed runs, unmapped new mods all can do it

with not having the car that long & being my first scoob i couldnt say.when i dropped the oil im pretty sure that amount of shards shouldnt be in there tho im not after the cheapest job just would like a realistic price & a proper job!appreciate comment about second hand engines & im just trying to cover every avenue before i make a decision on which way to go.so looking around engines are anywhere between 300 & 900 notes & guessing having engine swapped over is around 3-400 that standing me at 1300 similiar price to rebuild so hence do i rebuild or replace, thanks for your replies chaps

Stronger crank and stronger pistons, they can run over 500bhp in standard form and you can pick up short motors for around £900 and bolt your heads on. I'm running one at 420bhp
