Encouraging partners??

Encouraging partners??
It seems that a lot of guys on here including myself don't have understanding partners where our beloved ~Scoobies~ are concerned, it would appear we prefer to keep them in the dark regarding how much is spent on the beloved & what mods are being thought of.
Comments of:
How much is this gonna cost!
What now, do you really need it?
How many more back boxes do you need?
What about our holidays & the kids!
When do I get a look in or half of what you paid for that?
Has anyone got an understanding partner/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend??

My wife will get in the car but if I go 1mph over 30 she is grabbing the door & shouting slow down!!
I have tried everything in the book but she refuses to drive it, me thinking if she drives it she will understand more, but I just can't get her to appreciate the Scooby!
Not giving up yet though!

Luckily I met my wife through SMACS so it's not too bad. I can't spend any money on the scoob until the house is done but on the other hand, we have been recently been looking at cars for her and debating a 335i cab, she said that if she was going to have one then she would want it mapping straight away she went for a near 400 Bhp Merc CLK in the end

Mrs Merv is very understanding! When my engine went in my old Blob she said, 'if you're gonna rebuild it you may as well make it worthwhile and build it to the spec you want!'

We have been married for 32 years.
We met at a car club meeting in a pub.
We spent part of our honeymoon drag racing at Blackbushe.
I have spent more time and money than is justifiable on cars of one sort or another over the years, including 12 years racing at the Pod.
I watch every bit of motorsport on TV that I can.
If I get time to play a game on the PS3 it's usually some kind of raing game.
So you'd think she'd 'get it' by now wouldn't you?
Naaaaaaaaah.
She doesn't moan and has given up asking 'How much' though

Thinking about it I'm probably being unfair on my Mrs. If it's a treat we can afford for the car, i.e. mapping earlier this year, she was happy enough. She knows my cars are my pride & joy even if they aren't lavished in the way others on here are. As long as our son doesn't go without (well duh!) and she gets her Primark fix...

I am very lucky, when I was looking to change my last car I really didn't know what I wanted other then either an hatchback or an estate, has we have two retired greyhounds..
One very wet June day back in 2010, by chance we drove past a Subaru dealership, Mrs said why don't we have a look.
We took a WRX hatch out for a test drive around the lanes of the Lincolnshire Wolds. I was impressed by the grip in very poor conditions, so did a bit of research, and a fair bit of browsing on here. Some suggested I should try the Sti hatch before committing which I did.
At the time very few new STi hatches remained unsold a few red & a few silver after the poor sales of the hatch I didn't think IM would import anymore hatches so I asked the Mrs, didn't think she would go for the STi over a WRX but she did.
She said I could call it an early 50th birthday present!
Not broached the subject of cost of getting the engine forged

Lisa likes my car, she'll happily help when I'm fitting stuff, she washes it more often than me. She dug it out when it was under a foot of snow!
Lisa's a good un.

This is a true conversation with my ex.....
Wife:'My boss has got a nice new car.'
Finally,I think, she has taken an interest in things automotive.
Me:'Oh really,what car is it?'
Wife: 'A green one.'

Mines OK as she knows subarus are my life
Would not tell her how much I spend on them though
Quite happy to drive them and likes them as they look 'flash'
Wears her Subaru clothes with pride and likes to put the foot down
Never helps wash them though as she does the gardens and housework and I polish the cars and she is unsure of a BRZ or new Plasma blue STi
So she is a keeper

Further to my previous post, we owned a bugeye WRX for a year and my Mrs loved driving that, although there was no mention or intention of me modding it.
As soon as I swapped it for my Sti she wanted nothing to do with it.
I even bought the same colour as the bug to make her feel at home
