Default Are 2nd hand mapped ECU's worth it?

I was wandering if it is worth buying a 2nd hand ECU which already has the mapping licence to put in my car then get that remapped to keep the cost down otherwise it's over £600 for the first map on my original. Or is it best to leave it alone since it will be mapped for the specific car it came from?

It will be mapped for the car it came from but if you get the mapper to fit it and map it straight away then there's no problem with running issues! All you'll have to pay for is the tweak, even cheaper if the person who previously mapped it, maps it for you

Point less as like you say it's not mapped for your car so unless you get it for next to nothing and really want an ecutec map may as well map your own.

Open source is £250/300 no need for a licence.

Some mappers charge less than £600 for ecutec.

If you get the new ECU for less than the licence, then it would be worth it, but you will defo have to have the new ECU mapped

The other way is just to go open source, on your ECU, then you don't have to pay for the licence.

Not too sure who does open source in your area,

Bez

Open source is a different way of mapping which doesn't require a license, unfortunately not available on your year car.

Ecutek all in is usually around £550.
Second hand ecu with license will be circa £150 plus fitting and mapping costs.

Best advice would be to choose your mapper and have a chat with them about your best options.
