Impreza to Forester.
Anyone gone from a impreza to a forester? Now have a baby and need the extra room as we also have two dogs. Seen a few Sti SG9 foresters for sale which are quite tempting at the moment.
I have both, the forester is obviously a bit heavier and doesn't handle quite as well but still a very good all round car and with the extra load space is an awesome family car
Been both ways, from a P1 to an XT and now back in a WRX STi saloon.
A lot of the guys who post on Subaru foresters (European forum) are in your situation.

I've had a turbo Forester and several Imprezas. The Forester is by far the more expensive on fuel. Wouldn't have another one.

Forester STI's are awesome ..... as long as you avoid the overpriced early ones which are just trim and bodykits on top of a standard forester turbo.
I rate standard forester turbos though, for very little cash you can get a hell of alot of car and toys.
Have you considered a legacy? functionally sits very well between the two and is actually bigger inside than a forester (load length anyway).

Would agree with pflowers, very little difference, if any, in fuel consumption unless you spend 95% of your time at WOT.
