Default Running cost comparison

Hi

Does anyone own or have owned a Mini Cooper S and also had a Impreza. Im thinking of going Cooper S if the running cost are a few quid cheaper. Insurance would be cheaper, tax would be cheaper. So that only leaves servicing/parts and then the stupid amounts of fuel the impreza uses, surely the Cooper S can't be as bad? Any one with previous experiance would be appreciated.

Hi
Had an 02 Cooper s about 4 years back, looking back I don't think it was much better on fuel but again it's a bit like the scooby if you have lead foot it will drinks it....only 1.6 supercharged/Turbo rather than 2.0 Turbo but they are little pocket rockets just as much fun and you can't help your lead foot kicking in...go for it you can always go back

Servicing:
Depending on age of car find yourself a good local garage if your not bothered about main dealer stamp, parts I found not to bad, then again didn't have to spend much on it..

I mainly do town driving and get a max 20mpg and probably a lot less most of the time. Do you recall what MPG you got. There is a local specialist down the road from me which is another bonus as there isn't any scooby specialist close by.

I don't remember as like I said you just wanna blast around in it ...but more than 20 mpg even on hard I'd imagine.

Bit of spec below...On a 07 ,turbo not supercharged,I think they went turbo from 06 but don't quote me..

Fuel consumption (urban) 35.8 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 54.3 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 45.6 mpg
0 - 62 mph 7.1 seconds
Top speed 140 mph
Cylinders 4
Valves 16 v
Engine power 175 bhp

No definitely for me. Had enough of the impreza and all the costs that go with owning one.
