Default just changed rad and overheating and coolant leak under car.Help.

just had rad changed and coolant aswell but now car is overheating .it seems like there is a leak under the engine on the passenger side as there is lots of smoke coming out which smells like coolant.any ideas ppl?

Agreed!
Likely to be the cause, the spill could be from the expansion tank breather pipe.

check the level when it is cool, set the heater to hot and refill slowly with the car running, take it out for a short run (get the gauge into the normal range) and let it cool, top up again as required, repeat if required.

Also the thermostat on the passengers side so check the hose going onto that.

Drain out the coolant and fill from the rear most hose on the header tank which leads to the turbo, is big enough to get a filler pipe in, filling it this way is back filling the system and helps get rid of any airlocks.

found the problem its the little pipe that feeds the steel pipe going into the block next to the lower rad hose.its coming out everywhere!!anyone know what this pipe is called?

Sounds like it's the small one that goes into the water pump, it's nothing special, just whip it off and get a length of hose with a bend in it the same diameter from your local motor factors, if memory serves me right it's something like 5/10cm long, but it's been a while and i'm getting on.

just had the mech look at it and he said its the water pump thats gone which is above the pipe which would make sense.best place to buy one?from a breakers a good idea?

+ 1 this is a crucial part, whist a s/h one may look ok who is to say how many miles it has done, if the correct mix was used so it hasn't corroded or when it will fail.
