Default Catalytic Converter replacement Q (Bugeye 2002)

Hello people. You all have helped me on so many occasions before so here i am again kindly asking for your assistance!

My knowledge on exhaust systems is very limited. The other day i seemed to get a hole in the exhaust directly below the drivers area as i could feel it and certainly hear it.

Took it to the local exhaust specialist who put it on the ramp and said the CAT needs replacing. Total cost inc labour & part is £230 (inc VAT)
Is this a good deal?

i am unsure of how many converters there are - two right? well this one was the one connected to the centre pipe and said it was blowing from a few places and needs straight replacement. I checked places like scoobyworld who do aftermarket pipes but these do not seem to come with converters hence will it not fail the MOT? any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

No, it can pass on just the up-pipe if it is made hot enough pre test. The three cats are overkill in my opinion.

This should help you understand your setup

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...e/DecatExhaust

You can do away with up-pipe and mid section cat (keeping downpipe) and will pass MOT
