Default Turbo advice,,, please

I'm after a quick spool turbo with the punch in mid range,,, I don't want the top end power!! I was running a vf28 and was ideal but they are old and a lot of money and don't wish to buy something that will not last long,,, is the 34 and 35 the best turbo for this? The car will be mapped etc and I'm only looking for near 300bhp mark?

300 is a bit of a no mans land for turbos, td04 is good for 260-280, vf's make 320+. So your kinda right in the middle. There was a thread somewhere that mentioned possible sc td04 variant, bet it would spool like a space shuttle lol, not sure how much call there would be for it though.

Personaly vf35 second hand for cheap option, sc36 for best performance option is the way to go.

Not quite sure what you mean by the vf 28 being a lot of money, yes they are 12 yrs old ,but can be picked up for £200 if you know where to look ,at tops no more than £300 for a low mileage unit.
Paid £150 for mine 3 yrs ago and still going strong.
For 300 bhp I would consider a andy forrest hybrid td04 ,superquick spool and more importanly made by a man that has already proven that his hybrid turbo can make up to 320 bhp.

Wait a week or two and sc30 / sc32 will be here if not already
They will be immense judging on others
Also consider twinscroll conversion ? Just a thought as even better spool

If you opt for the td05 16g it will need to be converted to front entry to get the best results as std the top entry . A vf27 is off a legacy tt iirc & may well fit ,but a vf29 will definetley bolt straight on
