Default Pioneer D.Din satnav

I was wondering if any of you have the Pioneer 930 BT double din sat nav in your cars.
If so could you tell me your thoughts on it, or if you would recomend an alternative as a better choice, to be fitted in my Hawkeye Sti.

Ive got the Pioneer AVIC X1R in my Hawkeye and the Pioneer 930BT in my WRX STI. Both good units but I prefer the older X1R model for userbility. There is a long thread on here by Tony https://www.scoobynet.com/896191-fir...11-320r-3.html

Got to agree with budgie, the older units seem to be a little easier to use, even if they have slightly less features

tubbytommy Tell me how well does it find the speed camera's and I notice you have Prosport gauges, do you find them to be good also.

Do you have a Kenwood, which one is it, and I presume your happy with the features and the general all round operation of it.

Also thanks Budgie for that link.

its a good unit. very accurate at speed cameras.sat nav etc as it uses a gps aerial and a speed pulse from the car.
gives plenty of warning of cameras and also flashes speed on screen.
prosport steppers are great . had them in a few cars now and cant fault them.
obviously defis are better buy cost a great deal more

Yep both the 920 and the newer 930 are good as long as all the correct connections are made (Think Tony's is still missing the speed signal )

Pioneer have also now brought out a revised "Comfort Adaptor" (Hard wired remote) for us that have the phone controls on the steering wheel (CA-R-SUB.199PHA).(as opposed to the CA-R-SUB.299HA used in the original Subaru fitting kit)

You need to connect the wire to a speed pulse on the car for the unit to work correctly.
Once this is done it is accurate and detects cameras and navigates perfect.
I'm surprised a main dealer fits it without wiring it correctly

Unfortunately the fitting was an upgrade from the 320 BT unit that doesn't require the speed signal and they forgot about it

My bad, have now changed it

By buying the later one you won't need to fork out about £150 extra for the map update to make it current.

Can someone explain? Or do you need to buy an additional item to upgrade?

Cheers -

But the headunit itself is very good - very impressed.

You need to go on pioneers website and download navgate feeds software and you need to put In your serial no from the unit .
Then you download the camera stuff onto microsd card and pop it in the unit.
When you power it up it downloads it onto the unit

When you register the unit with Pioneer you get the link to POIBase and a 12month free subscription which has the SpeedCamera data.

Yes I have the Kenwood, No idea on the model etc as its getting on for 6 years old and its now starting to show its age a little. I am not that interested in music etc so I cannot give you much of an overview on the sound quality however I was more interested in the stereo looks matching the Subaru dash board etc which the Kenwood does perfectly. My plan is to update my unit next year with a full GPS unit.
