Exclamation CAN SOMEONE NAIL IT!

Where exhausts are concerned I am still in knots & bemused.

Is it possible for someone to explain or forward a website that explains all the terms & what they mean ie. turbo de-cat, sports de-cat, up pipes, down pipes, cells, resonators, de- resonators etc as I can't quite get my head around it all.

Reason being I would like to get the growl & grunt but must be MOT friendly.

Basicly on a typical turbo car you have the manifolds/header's they are the pipes that come from the engine.
Then the up pipe is a single pipe that comes up from the manifolds/headers.
Next is the down pipe that bolts to the turbo. Normally this pipe has a cat on it.
Then the center section bolts to downpipe. If it's a uk car this normally has a cat on aswell. Theres also a resonator/baffler fitted to the center section, these are used to reduce the db's (noise).
And finaly the back box. This is also used to reduce noise.

you can upgrade all these pipes or just some. so you could have standard manifold + up pipe, Then a 200 cell sports cat downpipe, then 3" straight though center section, then a back box of your choice. Also the law say's you must have a cat on the car, If It had one on when new. So it depends on far you want to go and what you want it to sound like lol.

What is the best way to go for MOT friendly whilst gaining grunt & growl?

Full decat system and then fit your standard cat back on at MOT time

Easiest is a Sports Cat, but, even they can fail on emissions, you need to get them very hot and then do the test.

As mentioned already, full decat, and re-fit standard for MOT.
