Default whats the difference?

HI

whats the difference between a WRX and a sport on a 54 plate?

is it just engine, gearbox and brakes?

reason i ask is i want a reliable, well tuned car but rather than buying a wrx and maybe fitting a 2.1, is it viable to do it to a sport?

I can get a 54 plate sport with miles for £1500 so base car is a load cheaper and engine can be paid for by what i would have spent on a standard wrx

brakes and box i would expect to change anyway to a 6 speed and maybe brembos or k-sport etc...

thanks

In all honesty you'd be better off just buying a newage sti, the engines are good for upto 400hp reliably and already has the brakes and six speed gearbox...

Can you get reasonable insurance on an STI?

in all honesty, i probably will end up buying a late blob or a hawk but its sat at work doing nothing and it got me thinking.

car £1500
engine £2500
box £1500
brakes £1000

now i add it up like that, a newage STI probably does make more sense but still wondered

and it's not about the insurance. im not bothered how much insurance is - within reason - its something i have to oay regardless of what i've got. and would be above board anyway

To change a sport into a turbo WRX or STi costs a LOT of money and will cost MORE to insure if you declare the mods.

You ARE going to declare mods aren't you?

without pointing out the obvious here.
your going to build an impreza from parts which requires a fair bit of subaru knowledge yet you dont know that a sport is a non turbo charged impreza.

Add in bumpers, bonnet, wing, grill, wheels, seats, carpets, door cards, steering wheel, suspension, etc etc etc..... The list goes on and on.

Really not a viable option If you ask me. It would end up costing you more than just buying one and then at the end of the day you'll have a car that's worth a fraction of a 'real' STI.
Pointless idea IMO.

i would never 'not declare' to insurance - the reason its so high for everyone is for the ***** that don't.

how do i not know the sport is non-turbocharged??
i said the engine was different - i have had several imprezas and do know what i'm looking at.
it was merely a vague question to satisfy curiosity for someone to answer with more experience in this area, not for sarcy remarks, thanks
