Any views on Motorhouse of Shiply
Hey im currently looking for a new car to replace my scooby. Thou I don't want to get rid of her, the fuel is costing me to much.
Even more so when I'm possibly looking to move into my own pad.
Noticed a diesel Mondeo st on Autotrader being sold by Motorhouse of Shiply.
Has anyone of you fellows had any experience of this place.
Cheers

Pretty sure they did high end motors a couple of years ago I guess there back into bread and butter cars.
Never had any dealings with them myself, but they had some tasty motors back then.

This is the car I want to look at. Silver isn't my favourite colour though. Its just that I've had a couple warn me that they are real dodgy, though one of them told me a mate who has a salesroom which is also selling a mondeo.
Yes they are still selling high end cars, this particular mondeo has been part ex'ed.
I could just go and find out for myself but im a softy lol

Bought a Renault 5 gt turbo Off them about 15 years ago, turned out to be a bit of a pig. Not much use to you being so long ago, but I've heard stories about them in the past. I won't go in to it on here though. Having said that, I was young at the time, and a bit green, if it was now, I'd have walked away...

The car is a bit out of my price range, and i feel if i go that far it has to be a reputable dealer. These mondeos came have problems with clutch and injectors going. A lot of money to fix. but its only five quid there by train so might view it in a week or so.

There's a problem with some kind of rattle from (possibly) the crank pulley on those Mondeo ST diesels that you need to listen out for. I don't know the details but apparently it's quite common.
I think there's a forum for them where you'd be able to get advice. I've a mate who owned an 07 estate version and his had it, so I've heard it, but can't recall exactly what it is or how serious it is either.
Sorry that's a bit useless, but at least you'll be aware of it now (oh, and they have a dual mass flywheel to worry about too....)

Yer I've heard the auto tensioner pulley can go, hence the rattle. And yes there DM Flywheel is very dodgey and is prone to fail. Plus injectors can also fail. Which is costly.
In the end I didn't go through to see the car. The price was to high from what people have said.
