Agree with zippy.

Advisable to check out some insurance comparisons if:

1. You have not had a performance car in last 12 months
2. The purchase car is modded or you are going down that route
3. And the particular model you are looking to purchase

You can drop on a bargain especially if someone wants a quick sale to upgrade. Have more of an idea what you want in terms of spec so you stay focused on your list rather than your emotion.

Generally we are drawn to our strongest emotion or thoughts, so don't make the mistake of compromising what you really want or you will regret it at a later date.

All the very best in your search mate!

My advice is try to find one as close to standard as possible or one that you can be sure hasn't been stupidly or wrongly modified

+2 But good luck finding a reasonably standard, unmolested classic STI. I was looking for a clean STI V a couple of years ago, gave up and bought a P1 instead - which, incidentally, is the only way you'll get a classic STI without it being an import.
