Pre cat mot

Hi just wanted to know what year / model jdm sti you need to have to go though on a pre cat mot ?

The older classic shape must have had no cats in the exhaust .I want to know what was the last date /year a jdm sti didn't have to have a cat in the exhaust to pass a mot ?

Believe this is end of 96. (Imports Only) though it could be 97,

I know it is required for a 98

You can check for yourself on .gov website, (import car MOT regulations)

mines a 94 wrx and it has cats fitted,as it has just failed the mot on the down pipe and it has a cat built in.

it failed on the downpipe blowing ? or failing emissions?.. some testers might test it under a uk spec'd listing.. you should make the tester aware its an import giving specific model details.. .. Unless the regulation has changed in the last 3 years..

it failed because it was blowing,just saying that the early imports did come with cats fitted,but i believe that they can pass without them
