Will i Get??
Will i get a an engine rebuild, including removing the engine, taking it apart & rebilding it plus re-fitting the engine.
if i supply ALL the components
for 3.5k? labour?
will most garages be happy to fit parts i give them? alot of garages seem to say no to aftermaket part fitting?
i know my cars engine cost 2895 roughly to be rebuit to standard all in.
i just want to know labour cost for the above,i know how much the components are.
thanks in advance chaps.
advice and thoughts welcome
jamie
ps
im referring to a 2.1 rebuild, just bottom end,no head work.with the rear thrust bearing mod?or the equivalent?so that will maybe cost a tad more than a standard engine being rebuild with forged internals?

Engine tuner is the man to speak to, i think they do a 2.1 including parts for circa £2600 + vat, but i saw that in a thread a while ago and that was just the build on a bottom end.
Give Alan or martyn a call, i'm sure they will be pleased to help.

If you can agree a spec with an engine builder i.e. exact parts to be used etc then i see no reason why they would have issues with you supplying the parts for them to build it up for you - they may however state that parts were customer supplied so where you stand on individual part failures i dont know.
Speak to the guys that use this forum for better idea i.e. Alan, David at API, Kev at Scooby Clinic etc
I would think £3.5k should just about get you a 2.1 bottom end assuming a few deals to be had and no extras/ancillaries

Can be done - no problem. The only qualification here is of course:
Customer "I want 460 hp and you must use these parts."
Builder "You won't get 460 with those parts, but we'll do our best."
But generally we have no problem using customer supplied parts.
However labour rates are:
£48.00 + VAT per hour
£58.00 + VAT per hours if you stand and watch.
£68.00 + VAT per hour if you want to help..............

i was getting the impression some of the people who posted were on the wind up,theyve blatantly read the jme thread and thought they would poke a bit.
i wanted to get a more broader spectrum and opinion rather than just ringing up ajs and getting a quote from him.

mate, after your performance on that classic thread do you seriously think that no one is ever going to take the p1ss again, i'd get used to it if i were you.
At least we are a forgiving bunch and answer your questions, all be it with a bit of a dig in the ribs, you'll just have to learn to get into the spirit of the site banter.

i never said who would build the engine, your assuming on that part..
what i was wanting for the 3.5k if it can be done for that budget is.
engine took out of my car.
bottom end rebuilt, everything supplied to do so
engine put back together
& put into the car
so basically thats 3.5k just to cover labour
i will have it mapped straight after or hold fire for a bit and have it done later

this is not a p1ss take but you are in the same town as engine tuner, they have an excellent reputation and any problems could be sorted easily as your so close.
i suspect the only reason you dont want to go there is because you made yourself look a massive tool in your thread.
swallow your pride and ask alan im sure he will be helpful.

3.5k would more than cover the labour.
We do a full drive in drive out for £4650 inc vat and have many proven results from that engine.
They look like this when they're finished too.

Don't forget there is a BIG difference between an engine that will accommodate big power e.g. a forged 2.1 stroker and a set up that will produce big power i.e. a forged 2.1 Stroker WITH all the ancillaries required to make big power!
Just the turbo required to produce the kind of power one might be thinking of with this kind of upgrade is well over 1k and that's just one component!

yes i understand all off the above mate,i was only asking the labour price not trying to have the whole lot done,i do know that modifying cars properly costs big money, and my labour estimate was nearly double what it will actually cost so am not exactly skimping out am i.

It's good that you're aware of the above though; you'd be surprised at how many confuse, say for argument's sake, a 500bhp capable engine which an entire set up that will produce 500bhp!
