Default Coming home (finally)... with a towbar question!

So after selling my MY03 WRX PPP Blob 3 years ago and going thorugh a Mini Cooper S (hated it!) and a Mazda 6 MPS i'm finally coming home to where i belong and buying an STi....

Heading for the sub £9K mark for a Hawkeye and ideally a Spec D (due to having to meet customers in it and giving a goodish impression)

So I've found one on the trader that has a tow bar...

Now the question is... If i went for the car, should i haggle a lower price based on potentially knackered rear shocks?

Any towers (i said towers!) out there have any experiance?

I've got to flog the MPS first so it will probably have gone by the weekend but thought it worth a look.

Sooo looking forward to getting back in the Scooby game!

I fitted a towbar to my classic but his has a removable hook, I only fitted it so the back of the car was reinforced incase I had a shunt up the back end, I do have a small trailer I use for camping but that's nothing really, I would look up on a few caravan site, also find out what the towing weight is on the car but it will almost have pulled summat mate, I don't think the shocks will be buggered yet but get them checked out on a good test drive see how she feels in the twisty bends

Thanks bud
Doing a search i think max tow was 1200kg (braked) so not too bad I guess. I've seen so many motors sagging on the back end with the weight of a caravan though that it does make me wonder.

All cars will sag when a van is on, but I did read somewhere that scoobs are not designed for towing or summat I dunno

I had a fuxed tow ball on my 05 wrx wagon for years. Towed small trailer, but mainly used it for loading mountain bikes. I did tow my gf's empty horse trailer a few times too (900kg) and you'd never have known. Ask him and he'll likely be using it for bikes or an allotment trailer!

My classic regularly towed our caravan of around 1200kg, five up and with four mountain bikes on top.

No probs at all.
