Super Unleaded in a standard WRX
Since I got my 07 Hawkeye WRX a couple of years ago I have always run it on 100% on Super Unleaded although I realise that for a standard WRX there is no real need to do so. The majority of this has been 97 RON Total Excellium as they are quite a few garages close to me and work. The recent fuel crisis where I was quite close a couple of times of not being to get any and also the ever increasing fuel prices got me thinking.....
Could I return to using standard unleaded after running the last 25k on Super unleaded i.e does the ECU learn from the fuel that is used and adjust the timing etc. Do you think there would be any problems etc.?

The ecu adapts to different grades if fuel by altering the timing etc. If you put good grade 95 in it you probably wont notice any difference. If you put cheap stuff in it will knock and pink more and the ecu will start to pull timing in certain areas. When you put better fuel in again it will start to learn again but a reset will do the job a lot faster as it resets the timing pull/IAM areas rather than improve slowly in increments.

mine will be the same, 2.5l on a 57 plate, mine runs crap on regular shell or bp. on the few occasions when i've had to use it you notice the difference after a few mile, feels hesitant and generally rough especially when easing off the gas
