Default simtek advice

Hiya,

Quick question, just wondering if i were to buy a second hand simtek ecu for MY98 WRX how much would i be looking at for just fitting and mapping it?
Would i need to purchase anything else or is it just a case of plugging it in and having it mapped?
How much is a map going to cost?

Just trying to work out costs compared to having it all new and fitted and mapped.

Thanks.

Cost of a remap on a used Simtek is usually £250-300, you would also need an air temp sensor fitted which are £20 approx. Other than that that's all you need.

I usually include the cost of the air temp sensor and fitting it when fitting a new Simtek.

Don't forget the new range has many more features than the old range of units. So although it may be more expensive it is a similar value for money in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply, Think i may have to go down the esl daughterboard route then, don't really have the funds for a new simtek at the moment, seems daughterboard is quite a good option and cheapest one.

Thanks again.

Esl daughterboard is a better option than a used old simtec as it has no knock control, contact duncan aka racedynamics.

After reading another thread I would try and steer clear of an old simtek.
