Question Advice on 08 WRX STI Hatch!

Hi Everyone,

i have finally evaded the VAG Group and made the long trip back to Subaru and have bought a 08 WRX STI hatch from a local Subaru dealer which i pick up on friday.

I would just like to have a little reassurance of how good these cars are as i have been searching a few forums and have read some horror stories of the pistons letting go (especially no 4?!) so any feedback would be great before i collect her. Please be honest guys but i intend to get totally standard and it will be ran on BP Ultimate so hopefully this may save?

Here a pic of her

Nice motor.....same colour as mine :-).

There was a thread on here a couple of days ago asking same question, if you can dig it up it had some good replies in it.
General consensus is "get it remapped ASAP" (more for engine longevity than anything else)

Oh and IMO avoid BP fuel, not heard a good thing about it off anyone. Mine runs on V-Power or Tesco Momentum only.

thanks for that Chris.

the car was previously the local subaru dealers service managers brother so hopefully will have all the latest ecu flashes etc but will definetley ask and will also pop in to the conversation about 'what if the engine goes' and see what the reaction is. (Shy bearns get nowt!)

used to run my old MY97 scoob on V Power as there was a local Shell garage but now the only Shell garage is the other end of town and always a bitch to get into but suppose it will be worth it.

Bit late for reassurance if you've already bought it....

Car should be Fine mate, Try to avoid BP like the Plague it tend to be a bit unstable. V-power or tesco99 is your best bet.

Mine popped piston 2 after 30,200 miles, (bad batch of fuel, long story)

Just keep a good eye on the oil & Coolant levels and you'll be ok

Bought my 2008 Sti hatch a few weeks ago, same colour, ace car. Agree with above advice, but get the Prodrive ppp kit fitted!
