Default Thinking of going from 2.0 to 2.5

I have a bugeye STi and am looking into engine rebuilds. One thought is going from 2.0 upto 2.5 but with the car tax banding just wondering if I will get F'ed over for tax if i go 2.5. If so then will go with 2.1 ltr build.

Early 2.5`s are in the lower tax band though so I think it goes on the age more than the engine....might be wrong though

It goes on car age. I had a 2.5 97 Type R £118 for 6 months.

I even tried informing the DVLA that i'd had a 2.5 put in it and instead of taking my word for it they wanted me to pay for an official inspection to prove it. I could under stand if i was going from a 2.5 to a 2L to save tax but the other way round?????? Bonkers.

Anyway I never bothered with the inspection and taxed thecar a few times.

You're worrying about nothing IMO

It's only after Y reg that the tax is done on emissions, not engine size. With regards engine size the tax only changes after 1550cc iirc on pre Y reg.

Just been on DVLA and it says band K covers cars over that band registered before 2006. So another bit of idea juggling to be done. Best get onto Gary and see what the insurance might go upto.
