Default Help with impreza choice

Afternoon all,

I'm coming back to the scooby world after having a stint over on the dark side(Evo). I'm a bit out of touch on what the best model to get is. I'm looking to spend up to £11,000 and have found these three and would appreciate the opinions of the members on here.

and

and finally

What do people think of the 2.5 over the 2.0? Is the 2.5 just as reliable?

Thanks in advance for all help.

hi there,
id keep away from the hawkeye and the 55 onwards blobs, the rear suspension setup is shocking, i think its something to do with the wider track than earlier models, i ve got an 06 sti spec d and the cars fantastic but the suspion is driving me crazy, i ve had ast coilovers now im back on standard shocks and springs and looking for somone to rebuild the rears as there completely shot !
but apart from that ha ha ,
good luck

The widetrack blobeye has the same suspension.

For that money mate i'd be looking for a JDM car as you'll get alot more car for your money and they hold a premium.

The 2.5 has poor quality pistons and can suffer headgasket blow.

I personally wouldnt pay anything over 10k for a Uk widetrack.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've seen this JDM car on autotrader that looks nice:

Think I'll stay away from the 2.5's then. I had a 2001 WRX years ago and that suffered from premature coilover wear on the rears. Must be a scooby thing.

Again thanks for the advice. If anybody knows of a good car that's inside my budget please let me know.

Just because you have 11K to spend don't be fooled into thinking you have to spend all of it to get the best car.
A JDM blob can be had for an awful lot less than 11K, leaving plenty in the pot for a decent suspension upgrade, exhaust, filter, 3 port and a remap.
You'd have a great car chap.

Completely agree with you mate. It's just trying to find one with low miles at a sensible price. Also, the insurance companies don't seem to like the JDM model. Weird.

Specialist insurance have hardly any price difference between JDM cars and UK cars buddy.
Worth a look in our 'insurance' section for some advice.

Most important thing is not to rush into a purchase just because you 'want' a Impreza. Sit tight, do plenty of research and keep hunting. The right car for 'YOU' will come along and when it does you'll be glad you waited.
I reckon you can spend 10K and get a great car including your insurance and any little bits you want.
