If you buy a bug eye, and then do a ppp, you'll be pushing out about 240 bhp. I think it's probably going to feel a bit quicker than your current motor, if it is a UK MY94 Turbo u have. Also the more progressive Turbo will make the new bug eye feel less responsive, even if it isn't, although the ppp will help with that.

I have a bug eye 4 door in silver, and it looks okay with the standard lights. What annoys me is I have to pay a further £1600 for the PPP, to make it as responsive as the car I had before (standard MY97 Catalunya).

Edited cos I thought u had a 94 WRX. Must read proply next time.

Hi

I've currently got a trusty 5 door MY94 turbo that I've been really pleased with. I've been thinking about a new 5 door WRX though but have decided that I think in standard form I may find it a bit tame - if you can ever say that about a Scooby

I haven't really looked into it properly yet (still just a vague idea) but I think that if I did go this route then I'd just have to change the bug-eyes and would also be interested in PPP. I've had a quick look on the web but can't find out much about it though, what exactly does PPP give you and also what does it cost?

Anyone any experience of this???

Thanks

Rich

I've seen one example on the subaru web site which have a PPP on them.
Ive got PPP on mine (MY99 RB5 4 door).
Fantastic performance and well worth the 1700 it cost or so to have.

You wont regret it.

I got PPP on my UK300, it is typically fitted at the first 1000 service once the engine is bedded in, and believe me it does make a whole lot of difference in terms of performance feel. Running on super unleaded (97/98) you should be knocking out about 245-250 bhp approx.

Believe me with out it the new shape did not feel anywhere near as pokey as my old 98 model I had before. 1600 well spend squids

Cheers

I hear the car is not simply "quicker" 0-60, but pulls better from lower down and doesn't tail off at the high end - the torque spread is wider.

Comments about weight (in this and other threads) - I can't account for all of it, but in defence, you are getting a full internal roll-cage with the new one, which you would have had to 1. pay for, 2. get fitted, and 3. put up with the weight increase with the old one.

Here in Portugal we get a PPP for twice the UK price, but it includes STI lights, P1 alloys, and Prodrive suspension and brakes, as well as the ECU and back box. Seems a pretty good package.

I've got the PPP fitted to my MYO1 saloon (which is for sale by the way, see the for sale section ) and it makes a real difference. Mine produced 247bhp when I had it on the rollers and it now pulls so much better in all gears, £1600 well spent I reckon. It's easily as quick as my old MY99 but I think the new-age cars better build and refinement perhaps masks the feeling of speed compared to the old shape.

Reaton it isn't.

The Link has just become available for the new shape and it doesn't cost as much as the PPP...

I have changed from the PPP to the Link and I am well happy... the car is much more smoother, more responsive and you can monitor your knok and fueling...

You then have the advantage of mapping your car everytime you change your mods so the car is more efficient.

I wouldn't spend money on a PPP, I would only buy a car that has it on it.

The Link is £1450 i think...

Pete Croney (Scoobysports) has it on his.... give him a call.

Hope this helps...

Exclamation

Try a PPP'd car before you buy, don't get carried away with the hype.

doesnt really matter on a 94 motor though as I doubt it will have any warranty unless it has been extended and extended (which is unlikely). Also the warranty would probably just be void for the engine and not for, a window motor for example.
