A lovely speeding ticket popped through my front door this morning unexpectedly, apparently I was doing the murderously humungous speed of 72mph in a national speed limit on a single carriageway road.
I know where I was caught, but at the time didn't think I had been. I'd overtaken a slower car (doing about 45mph) as the road was nice, wide and straight, so clearly an accident blackspot and there was a Transit van parked facing oncoming traffic in a layby under some trees. Now, to be fair, it was a marked police vehicle and it did have a speed camera sign on the side, but by the time I'd twigged it, all I could do was get my foot off the gas. The bloody thing had a GATSO mounted in the back door! At the time it didn't flash, and as a member of the ABD I'll see what I can do to escape prosecution, but chances are there's another 3 points and £60 fine on it's way.
And for the record, I don't really hate the police, just crappy speed cameras

sorry to hear you got done mate, oh no my world is going to fall apart maybe I should get rid of my scooby and get a pair or rollerskates, hold on maybe I will get done for speeding then aswell, I know I will stay in bed and then I can't get into trouble but hold on if I do that I will be out of a job and won't be able to afford to feed myself, ah but this is not a problem as if I am in bed I won't be burning up any calories so I won't need to much food but then again I can't pay the rent and I will become homeless aswell so maybe I had just better stick below the speed limit and then none of the above will happen.
So have they changed the national speed limit for a single track road then? it was always 60 when I was driving in the UK.

Cheeseboy, so you never speed? Every speed limit is set perfectly for the road/weather conditions at all times? Maybe you're one of those people that sits at 40mph EVERYWHERE regardless of what is occuring around you. And over here we collect points, not lose them
Wurzel, I don't own a Subaru yet, and since these additional points will add about £360 to my premium, it may well have scuppered my chances as I was really hoping to stay under the £2000 a year mark
If any of you try and tell me that you don't deliberately break speed limits from time to time, I won't beleive you.

Notorious I never said I don't speed, I live and drive in Germany where I can drive at speeds you lot can only dream about, but if you do it then you should accept the consequences if you get cought and not blame the police for doing their jobs no matter how dirty and underhand it may seem to you.

i find your reply completely flawed !!
you are telling me that you obey all speed limits an only ever put your foot down on an autobahn, ??? i dont think so !!!!
if the road was a single-carraigway the the speed limit would be 60mph !!! right !!!!
so you are saying that by doing 10mph over this limit that you are endangering others !!!
what are you... thick !!!
the only living thigs in danger would be the driver, and the cows & sheep in the surrounding fields !!!!
unless you mean flies, maybe you do !!!
either way i suggest you sell your scoob and go and buy a milkfloat !! you wont have nothing to worry about then, as you will never ever break the speed limit !!!!!!

Mikey_boy I ain't going to get into a debate with you over this, the law is the law no matter what you think about it. As for your statement about the only thing in danger is the driver that is bollox. As I said in my previous message do it at your own risk if you get caught then tough don't bleat about it as if you had done nothing wrong, if you had done nothing wrong then you wouldn't be getting prosecuted would you.

just what I was about to say Wurzel.
Mikey-boy:
Yep - quite frequently, but I must add that it done in the OPEN SPEED LIMIT areas!! We have them, every day to work and back is a lovely section btw Yes I enjoy it, but as you said, you sped in a
, not on a 3 lane, (8 foot wide per lane) AUTOBAHN
You got done - deal with it - don´t complain about being done.
That´s all

i dont know much about autobahns but from the impression i get, they are long and straight !!!
so if you enjoy going fast in a straight line in your "FANTASTIC HANDLING, 4 WHEEL DRIVE RALLY SLAG" then er......
ok.......
a bit like someone who buys a car that handles like a dragster and decides to attack all the twisties in it !!

What you Germans fail to realise is: bleating is a British national pastime. If I wasn't complaining about this I'd be muttering some nonsense about petrol tax or the weather or the lack of knockwurst in the local supermarket.
