Default Is it easy to remove tyres from wheels ?

At home without damaging the alloy, (denting it, they are being repainted) or is it worth paying for a pro to do it ?

reason i ask, i have 2 duff tyres i need to remove and 2 good ones as i am getting my wheels powder coated, i dont really want to pay £20-£30 to get them removed then another £20 - £30 to get them refitted/balanced

id rather remove them myself, fit them myself and just pay to get them balanced

or am i living in La La land ?

An ex mate (who was a complete tit!) decided to cut his tyres off his rims rather than pay to get them removed but there was no way of pressing the sidewalls off because there were hardly any left so the wheels were scrapped

We used to do it, by placing a plank of wood on the tyre and driving another car gently up the piece of wood. This would break the tyre off the rim.

However, you would need to endure a learning period where everything could go badly wrong, therefore, best option is to use a professional.

It can be done pretty easily if you have the correct equipment. Manual bead breaker etc etc. By the time youve invested in the tools you may as well pay to have it done.

Ally wheels and low profile tyres = pay to get them removed. It will turn into one of those jobs you wish you never started !

As above, get it done professionally!

I tried to remove a tyre off an Evo 6 rim a few years ago.. What a nightmare! It was a dead tyre so thought I'd cut it off, I gave up. Trying to cut through the steel bands in the bead area was near impossible as they just flexed and moved. I took it to the tyre shop with just the sidewalls on the rim

Lol at you bunch of nutters, i just had 5 taken off for a fiver, and 4 put on for £20.00.

And if your tyre fitter can't fit tyres without scratching the rims then he's not a propper tyre fitter.
