Default RA-R Exhaust

Is the exhaust on the 2006 RA-R the same as the one fitted to the standard Spec C?

The test reports talked about "tweaks to the exhaust system" but the exhausts look the same to me...

No it is not. The RA-R has a different (more vocal) muffler. The Spec C one is just like a regular JDM STI.

Hi mate, thanks for the response - I know the backbox is different, but do you know if the rest of the system is the same as the JDM STI / Spec C?

BTW, I noticed in another thread that you're based in Singapore - grew up there and still go back regularly. I heard there is a track being built, do you know when it's going to be completed?

Which model do you have by the way? Singapore got all the coolest scoobies!

Does it have the same turbo as the 06 Spec C?

I believe the rest of the system is identical. Only the backbox like you said.

I'm born and bred here mate. Ah...that track. Supposedly to be called the Motorsports hub - it will be a proper FIA track or so i've read. And it was supposed to be completed by the start of 2012 but is apparently delayed until further notice due to tender issues or something about misappropriation from the people running it. or so i've heard.

I have 07 hawk Spec C. Pretty much like yours, but without the type 20 goodies.

Unfortunately not, the RA-R runs a VF42 (slightly bigger) turbo whereas the Spec C comes with a VF36 standard

How many years did you spend growing up here? When's the last time you came back?

Ah yes, right you are - it's the VF42 on the RA-R.

I lived in Singapore for about 8 years when I was younger - my dad worked at NUS so we lived in Clementi Road.

Do you happen to have any original brochures of other documentation about the Spec C, RA-R and S204?

I'm trying to get my Spec C registered over here in Switzerland so any documentation would be a really massive help!

If it's only in Japanese, that's also fine!

Hope the track gets sorted out soon, I think 2012 is the last year of the night race right? Would be good if the track was ready for 2013.

My office is just a stone throw away from NUS! It's a small country really!

I do have some info and original brochures, but they are scanned copies. Will scanned copies do? If so, i'll be happy those over to you by PM maybe?

I certainly hope so too. It's frustrating to not have a proper track here. I'd have to drive up into Malaysia for a track day until hopefully this one gets completed. Yep, this is the last night race.

Part number ST44304S010 RRP is over £1500

But they sound sooooo good.

I have one on my WR1 atm. wouldnt change it for anything!!

Closest that you might find for sensible money would be the GENOME back box.

The S202 back box is full titanium unlike the ra-r S204.

madusa1 be careful as to what information you provide them as it may make it harder for you to register the car. If I were you I would say its the same as the eu spec but has the 2.0l engine.

Thanks for the advice - I am planning to keep things as OE as possible: I'm even re-fitting a set of OE springs, dampers and ARBs for the test.

But I'm already planning a few things for after the test as well...

Anyone know the part number for the RA-R / S205 back box? I assume it's a little fruitier but not terribly loud?

Hi Suberman, I'm not sure what sort of documentation you got when you purchased your car but if you have anything about emissions values, power output, noise values, weight, etc that would be really really helpful for me.

Hi Jake, are you planning to register the car as a completely stock Spec C?

S204 you mean? There is no S205. I quite like the sound of it. Not too loud at all. I'll see if i can find a part number somewhere.

Here's a clip with the exhaust note. The sound from this video is pretty accurate i reckon. i.e. not amplified. 0:45 Chap giving it some.

No, just stainless steel.

My car was bought brand new from the dealership because it was one of those cars initially destined to be converted to a Group N rally car.

I have the paper specifications of the car. Kerb weight, factory rated power/torque, engine capacity etc, but not noise and emission levels....

Do they really need those? Can't they just run a test to determine it from your car?

Hi Errol,

It would be fantastic if you could send over those specifications. You can't do a test for these things, they demand that the figures come from an original manufacturer or dealer :-(

Would you be able to email me a scan of these documents? I've sent you my email address by PM.

So the RA-R exhaust is stainless - can't be too expensive then?

Yes, indeed, I meant the S204. S205 is the hatch.

Yes, I will need to put everything back to stock to get it registered, but I should be able to get the backbox through later on.

I'll send some info over to you tonight Jake. Am at work now.

There are no cheap stuff from STI Japan unfortunately.

R205 is the hatch, then they went back to S calling the latest one S206. Talk about getting confused!

The pipe that connects to the mid section and goes into the back box on the ra-r/S204 is steel and the back box and tip is titanium. Bit of an odd combo ,but it does sound great!

Hi kennyc, have you checked it out? Is there a part number on the OE RA-R exhaust?
