Default am i being daft?

Hi guys I'm not sure if I have a problem or whether I'm just being daft.... but.... I had a 05 blob with ppp running at 297 bhp at the wheels and sold it. I eventually replaced it I now have a 2000 jdm 2.5 bugeye running 350 bhp and 400 lb torque, great, but... my old blob seemed faster and torqyer than this one which is more powerful.
So am I being daft and just got used to the power or has anyone got an explanation lol cheers.
Cue the criticism lol

Was the blob standard with just the PPP, if so it wouldn't of been making almost 300bhp at the wheels.
The JDM bug you have now has obviously been modified as it would of been a 2.0 originally.
Are you sure it's making the power you think it is ?
What is the complete spec list of both cars ?

Thanks for replying so fast the blob was standard apart from ppp at scoobyclinic they dynod it and it was supposed to be 305 but in fact it came in at 297. My new bug is modified decatted 2.5 short engine but standard internals not forged. Vf30 Turbo I think. It had a zero sports induction on it but took it off cost it was causing problem with the maf sensor and remapped to match by Andy Carr. The figures I was told was 349 bhp and 400 true. Defi gauges and cosmetic mods. Just seems not as responsive or fast I'm not sure if its just the map isn't just right like the ppp was

It's more than likely just because it's a smoother power delivery buddy.

could be that the blob had more lag and less of a pick up so it packed more of a punch making it feel faster, realistically the JDM will be quicker but as said the power delivery much earlier does not give the punch as before

So what were saying basically if I understand it that this car has a better power delivery therefore smoother so even though its faster it doesn't have the grunt of power. Is hat right?

this may be the only explanation, end of the day if both quoted power figures are correct then your latest car WILL be much faster.

The 2.5 engine provides a much more linea (excuse spelling) power delivery. Power comes from much lower down and is much smoother throughout the rev range. Much more usable in a everyday road car.
The 2.0 is different, you get the power in a burst. Nothing, nothing then bang. This can give you that 'back of your seat' feeling. So even though your old lesser powered car may of felt quicker its not.
I personally like the feel of a 2.0 over the 2.5 but each to their own.

Also, the figures for your blob would of been power at the fly not wheels I would of thought.

OK interesting.... hmmm.... so if I got a bloody big turbo and whacked it on and remapped could I get that back of seat feeling with a 2.5?

you could but its better to have earlier spool, people pay more to get a car to spool earlier! its just deceiving, your new car will be definately faster though

Lol not sure if I'm more or less confused now than when I started. Think I'll speak to my mapper and see if I can get a map that's somewhere in the middle or see what he suggests thanks everyone for your advice invaluable as always, God bless scoobynet!

Its in your head. My STI Bug felt faster before decat , induction kit and map tweak. But its coz before mods, the lag kicked in which gave the impression of more power. But after a few drives im getting to realise faster spooling and smoother delivery , and faster than before. Just takes a bit of getting used to !
