i have one in a newage and had one in an old classic of mine,
the problems usually arise if you dont skim/replace flywheel as this causes juddering.
i believe the new versions are anti judder.
also there are a lot of non genuine ones on ebay.

Both of mine (Genuine) were pants, juddered like hell and with a new flywheel (light weight) then skimmed fly.

Exedy pink here, springs are little rattley on over-run, but has taken a full-bore launch no problems and no judder at all - a good strong clutch IMHO

I had an ACT sb4xtss and streetlite flywheel fitted 4 days ago, the pedal was stiff as hell when driving away from the garage, lost count of the number of times I stalled it, but now it is bedding in nicely, pedal is only a bit stiffer than stock, and the flywheel has made a definite improvement.

Sorry re read your post nad now realise this wont fit your type r, am I correct in thinking type r's are 5 speed?

Ive had numerous problems with the excedy range in the last 18 months so have moved to competition clutches which are absolutely great for the money and far superior to the excedys they dont judder or slip from new and are great clutches to drive.

guys thanks for your input, im not knocking exedy in anyway!
but i had my kit ( pink box) fitted from rich @ fb tuning, after driving away i found 3 problems.
1. when you was lifting the clutch pedal up, just about a inch or so from the resting point. there was a slight vibration.
2. when driving, or at stand still. there was a clicking sound from the clutch pedal.
3. when driving at about 30/35 mph, if you lifted your foot off the gas and let it roll.
there was a nasty vibration that you would hear. put your foot back down and it would go, or if you pressed the clutch pedal down it would go!!

rich has helped me so much to get it right, after the 1st inital fitting he took the box out again checked it all over and couldnt see anything wrong!
he drove the car doing many many stop starts, to help the bedding in.
and this helped probs 1 a bit, but the vibration is still there very very slightly.
but the clicking sound has gone.
he put number 3 down to the rear diff, so he changed that for me.
but the vibration sound in back of car is still there!!
so he took the box out again and changed the fly wheel, ( even though he changed the fly wheel and bearing the first time round ) but the vibration is still there.
the only thing he didnt change was the clutch!!! so it has to be a faulty clutch kit from exedy!!!
its doing my head in with that nasty noise while driving, has spoilt my buzz of driving my scooby......
dont let this put you you off from buying a exedy kit, maybe i just got a one off problem clutch???

@ carlito rich is a top bloke, and given me such a good service after fitting.
dont let my problem put you off, if it goes wrong he will go out of his way to put it right!!
any more input would be great, just building a case before i go to exedy...
coz its cost me a few £££££ and cost rich with all his time, so im looking to get something back from exedy.
