I imported mine (00MY turbo) direct from the belgian subaru importers in Brussels about 6 months ago, the belgian import is the one to go for as it has a 3 year warranty. I saved about £7000 by using this route . The car took 6 months to arrive. Their phone number is 0032 2 254 7560. The guy I dealt with is called Mr mahieu (pronounced mayer). I can personally vouch for this dealer, I think that you are better dealing direct as you don't get fobbed off by a 'middle man' plus the fact that you save a whole lot of wedge.
If you need any more help I would be pleased to help you out, Email me if you like.

I imported an MY2000 18 months ago, and would like an MY01.
I am interested in the quoted prices. Are there any differences in the spec, ie air con, alarm, trim, radio etc ?
regards,
Gary

I'm importing a MY01 via Virgincars. The savings not as big as doing it yourself but it's still good at £3000. But it is completely hassle free.
The car will be exactly the same as a UK car in terms of spec, trim and warranty. The only difference will depend on whether Virgin fit the same make of alarm as UK cars, but it will be a CAT 1 alarm.

thanks for all the replies i feel much happier knowing others have imported and shall certainly e mail those who offered help.
so far i have had several comptetive quotes,
"keyring cars" seem good and they import from belgian. They say the belgian cars are "full uk spec" ..i am waiting the quote approx £16500 to the door, but uk spec means fogs/cd stereo as well. they also get std wheels blasted and laquered to gold for 140 quid...anyone one had that done?
experience..scooby dealers quote £700!
they also say service book is in flemish!!
but the manual is in english.
also the alarm isn't included but can be fitted thatch 1 for £300.

Try Mark Mottershead at Keyring Cars (http://www.keyring-cars.co.uk). I used him as my agent last year and the service was excellent. They've helped with a lot ofimports and know some of the Dutch dealers very well.
They even orgainised a go-karting event for past and future customers back in February which was great fun and a chance to talk Scooby's for a while.
