Add 3.4% of the total price and then 20p on top (Check the PayPal fees first, i think it's this though.) of the price and send it to him as a purchase of goods, then you are covered if he mugs you off.

The person receiving the money has to pay a fee if it's for goods, you pay the fee if it's a gift.

A gift isn't covered if he mugs you off.

Thanks

Say im selling you a spoiler. You pay me via "gift" so theres no charges. You would have no protection with your money if i kept it n didnt send you your spoiler.

Pay the "fees" if i keep it you can claim your money back but it will come out of my account then paypal expect the money back asap if not goes to debt collector etc

It's the seller that pays the fees.

So if you were to buy an item for £100.00 you would pay £100.00 to PayPal.

The seller would only receive £96.40 from PayPal, if my maths are correct.

Thank You.

Use PayPal normally and you have 45 days to file a complaint if you are not happy with the transaction and they will sort it out for you, if you are unable to come to an agreement with the seller.

Safer than credit cards in my experience!

i am aware of the ins and outs.....

what i was questioning was none of these things matter if you pay by gift. ie, you are not covered.

No you are not covered.

Not worth the risk I'd say.

Let us see who you're buying it from and we'll give you a more accurate opinion Personally I wouldn't pay by gift or bank transfer unless I trusted the seller 100% or could afford to lose the money. I've had a few purchases in my time where I felt it was worth the risk but they all came off, I've also been scammed though with photoshopped photos

Seller with just over a year on here and just over 100 posts so I'd day no! I wouldn't touch anything they had for sale with a bargepole and I twigged that the user "foskit" wasn't a trusted seller because of the same reasons and look at where that went

You'd need to be mad to send a paypal "gift" to anyone other than close family members, just don't do it
