Default Thanks To API

Just like to say thanks to API for trying to re-build my gearbox... great comms and help from David and Simon.

After nearly taking the car off the road for a while i have p/xed the box with the a company in the north west for a heavy duty refurbished one with 2 year warranty or 24k miles.

I would of liked the new one off David @ API but my pocket couldn't stretch that far....

Just waiting for the gearbox to be delivered now so the car should be back on the road next week touch wood.

Below is some pics taken by David and the team showing the damage.

Never seen a box as knackered as that one. The debris had gone everywhere. It needed over £3000 + VAT spending in parts alone and was clearly not a repairable proposition. The rear drop gear bearing had failed some time back and it had been driven like that for some time.

A replacement box was the only option and it looks like the OP has done well tyo get out of that.

Sorry mate we tried, but sometimes you need a bit too much fairy dust to get out of trouble.

Last time I saw a bearing in that state it had exploded on a 400 tonne press and shot through the workshop roof
