Default Recaro Kids car seats

who has one, what they like?

Are they just over priced and not that good?

Picked up a lovely Britax last week for the wifes car, but me thinks I need a Recaro in mine.

But just can't warranty £160+ on one.

is ebay worth looking at?

They just look good mate. We've had about 4 between myself and brothers' families. They're not very stable in the car and therefore don't seem that safe.

Go along to a Mothercare world and have them fit one in your car, then give it a good tug here and there. You'll see how unstable it is after that!

Just got one yesterday my little one was just out in it for the first time and she was well happy with it.

Does not move in my car very solid once in position

Nice seat very well made has a alarm in the buckle too so if she trys to unlock it sounds and warns you.

I had a pair of Starts for my older kids with built in speakers in the head support area. Very good they were too. I've sold one but the other is still for sale. We have a Young sport like the picture above for our latest horror and she is fine with it. We found the Start needs kids to be a bit larger as the front support for younger kids is not popular and when they get large enough for the benefits of the adjustments in the seat, they want the booster seats instead.

The Young Sport has a harness and in a bit you can remove this and grow the seat big enough for the transition to booster cushion.

And it washes up like new to make it easier to Ebay on afterwards.

We are on our second now, had the young profi plus which was used when the little one was born and he is now going into the young sport which is all he should need. Never had any problems with loose wobbly seats had the first seat in the issofix base which is brilliant as no messing with seatbelts every time we put him in and out and now have the new one fitted with seatbelts and took a few adjustments but seems nice and secure!

Check out Which, the baby seat (profi plus IIRC) is ranked really well but after that I would not touch with a barge pole, we had the profi plus isofix baby seat for our daughter and was really impressed so went straight for a Recaro next, then I read the Which tests which said if you have an accident you child WILL be injured, after reading that there was no way I was going for style/brand over safety!

My daughter was gutted as promised her the one with built in speakers!

Here is her current seat now she's 4, slightly modded Britax to match the hatch front seats, can't remember model name but Which top rated.

Cheers
A

Read the Which reviews, its well worth the few quid it costs to sign up and an interesting read, anything other than the new born Recaro seat gets bad reviews.

love that...was going to go with the Recaro (purely for style) but having read reviews and seeing these pics this could be the way forward. Where did you get the subaru stuff from and how did you do the side piece?

Bought a Recaro kiddies seat for my little'un twelve years ago, found it was a good looking well made seat but boy was it heavy, which lead me to concerns that in an accident the thing would probably have crushed my lad to death.

The side is just a few Subaru vinyls/stickers I had lying around, the STI is a eBay fabric clothes patch, gave it a little trim and wonder webbed it to the seat!

we bought this from MotherCare last week... £50 off!!!
http://www.mothercare.com/Britax-Ecl...elated-tab-3-5

Edward loves it, being a narrow base give you room still to get two adults in the back of the car.... plus this seat has three seat settings, so when he sleeps you can angle it back slightly.

Hi

One of my friend using the Recaro Young Profi plus (Isofix) at the moment and loves it. Very good quality. We sell loads of these.
The Young Sport is the most popular choice from 9kg upwards as it grows with the child. The Start is a slightly older design and as mentioned above the base is a bit short so as the child gets older it can be a bit uncomfortable.

We offer the full range and carry the most popular colours in stock.

http://www.revolution247.com/recaro-...s-70368-0.html

Give me a shout for any more info.

Thanks

Keith

We have the Young Sport very good seat and adjusts as they grow.
If the wife puts it in (without ISOFIX) it is dangerously loose (but I bet most are) I put a knee in it and really tighten the belt holding the seat in. Also put a blanket or old bed sheet against the seats to protect them
Would recommend it

We have the Young Sport and as said without Isofix it is pretty unstable. I really have to push it back and give the seat belt a heafty heave and I'm not exactly a weak fella (6ft1 207Kg blindside flanker) but the seat still has some slight movement.
Having said that if we did crash and the seat did move the seat belt pretensioners would fire and obviously hold the seat back from any slight movement surely leaving the lad in place in his harness?
