Default just driven my first.....

First ever drive of a newage. WOW! What a difference to the classic. Much more refined than my RB5. Better as a daily drive but then again doesnt feel as raw. Mine feels alot more "Rally style." Having said that i obviously didnt drive it hard coz the salesman was with me.
It was a 2005 blobeye STI and am in two minds as wether to go for it or go for a bug eye uk300 or even keep what i have.
I use the car daily, but only cover 16 miles a day. I do as many shows as possible with the odd b road run on a sunday weather permitting.
I love the look of the blue blobeye and driving it makes me feel good that im standing out more than i do in the RB5.
My question is simple......
What do i do?

A UK300 is nothing but a glorified Wrx with PPP and crap looking headlights and compared to sti a much lesser car imo

I dont possess a flame suit

i got a newage sti and you are so right about the standing out thing, but i hate that, i tried to make it stand out less by changing the gold wheels to grey but it didnt help much.

im only having a friendly dig at chopperman, he has a thing against jdm classic owners i think and refuses to accept the well documented 2.5 engine problems.
possibly because he bought a 2.5

and before you ask as he did the other day i have a NEWAGE UK STI.

I think the HG problem is a bit of a historic fault now. The revised the gasket i believe. Its far more common in 06 hawks than 07 and correct me if im wrong here but i dont think the hatch is known for hg problems? Also i think cars that run high boost at high revs are more known for lifting the heads and blowing the gasket. Mine is running 1.4 bar but it drops off to 1 bar at about 6k. I think this is for that reason.
And before you start, i will say again so it sinks in. Im not saying the 2.5 is faultless. Funny thing is though, i have a mate with a 97 turbo wagon and he had HG issues. He bought a later short 2.0 engine and that also had hg issues. His car was modded and running about 360. BMW boxer engined bikes also had issues in this area too. I think flat type engines are prone to this not just the 2.5.

heres a thread about hatches
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-failures.html
most low mileage standard and unmodded

the 2.0 is better fact.

feel free to add the link to the thread about 2.0 engine issues.

also people prefer jdm models as the spec is far better than uk versions.

Thank for the link but my question was about the 2.5 hatch and head gaskets not ring lands.
Not many engines are 100% out the box. Stick a set of forged pistons and quality 11mm heads studs in a 2.5 and its a great engine with a mountain of torque. Torque is what its all about in a fast road car

if the 2.5 is so superior why dont the japs use it in their top end models like the spec c or litchfield use them in their models.

because it poo, you bought the wrong version lol
