Default What do you guys think??

I was looking out for an STi but this has just come up......

http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classif...01129403646530

What do you guy's reckon to it? Its pretty local to so might be worth a look.
I'd never even considered a wrx300, from after a bit of searching the wrx300 is pretty much a wrx with PPP - therefore making similar performance to an STi?

Cheers

Steve

I would get an STI mate. A lot of people including my self get wrx's first and then make a loss on them when they sell them to buy an STI.

If you are going to keep the car standard power wise, then a wrx is ok, but as soon as you start tuning the STI is the better base as it already has:

engine good for 450 bhp
gearbox good for over 500 bhp
Brembo brakes

and all you need to get an STI to 340 bhp is a fuel pump, exhaust and remap

To be honest I wasn't really planning on much tuning but having said that once the scooby bug bites I'll probably think different lol

Thanks for the info!

a wrx with similar power is not an sti and never will be.
the 2 cars are miles apart.

I also like the fact that there are only 300 of them, where as STi's and WRX's are everywhere.

I've been on the subaru scene for 8yrs and the only reason i now have a wrx is they don't make an sti wagon, otherwise i would have an 05 sti.

A uk300 is a tarted up wrx, not saying the wrx is a bad car because it is not, in fact it's a very good car,and i really like mine with the ppp.

The gear ratio's on the 5speed box are better in my opinion as a daily driver, but i have big plans for mine in the future so will change most things anyway.

You will be better if your looking for a saloon and like that look to just start with the sti.

The uk300 will also be harder to get rid of if you decide to sell as it's neither one or the other, and as such has a narrow market as they command almost as much as an sti, so most in the know would just buy the sti.

Happy hunting.

I think you would be better off with a 1997 Type R 2 door, and I know someone selling one ! lol

as said above if you not going to be tuneing then it will be fine.
i was in the same boat as you was looking for a sti but got offerd a wrx with the prodrive kit fitted for the right price, took it for a test drive and yes it does all i will need it to do so got it.
really like it yes its not a sti with 6 speed and dif control but for what i need its nice, only you know if it suits your needs prodrive say its runing 261bhp and 348 tq so they have got enough mid range grunt.

It was never seen as a true limited edition like the Bug UK300 WRX...just a normal Blob with some bits added.

When they launched the UK WRX and STi models they made quite an effort to make the WRX not step on the toes of the WRX in terms of engine, brakes and interior.....

If you are looking for an STi, buy an STi LOL

Shaun

PS what turbo are you running for 348 lbF torque ?

Ditchy, they do make an STi wagon but they are as rare as a Greek Taxpayer.
