Default Std 5 Speed Gearbox Weight

Whats the weight of a standard 5 speed gearbox... need to work out a quote for delivery and i've no idea how heavy they are??

I would of course just weigh it, but not going to be able to do that until the weekend.

A higher-end approximation would be fine

Having lifted one i would guess it's close to 85 kilos, the scary thing is that a six speed weighs 80 kilos more

Well it's the whole sti 6 speed set up that is 80kg heavier than the 5 speed wrx set up.

I'm sure matty is about right, but mine was not a bad guess considering i lifted it into the garage alone, it weighs more than i do,must be all the shreeded wheat i ate as a kid, lol

And not forgetting the iron brew

I thought is was more around 60kg. I just weighed an STi7 engine block with pistons, sump etc and it was 65kg.

I can lift a 5 speed box (some couriers refuse, too heavy) but really struggled to lift the engine

^^ That sounds more like it....as a gym goer I know it would be much harder to carry something at 80kg with that awkward shape.....

I six speed box does not weigh 165kilo/26 stone. I know this because I weigh 12 stone and can lift a six speed box.

Lol, think your right, but i did say it was a guess, and later in another post that it was the full 6speed set up that weighed 80kg more, which i think you will find is correct.

so do we have a winner

As for the time for the gym comment, i'm too old to be pumping iron, and i'd rather be out in the fresh air than sniffing sweaty blokes in a gym, but i'm willing to bet there arn't many 46yr olds that could keep up with me on my 1hr work out and 10k daily hike in the mountain region of croatia
