Default subaru impreza sport 1996

hi all im a new member

bought a subaru impreza sport non turbo recently and its started to run like its holding back not running as it should ( missfiring when put the throttle down ).
was told to disconnect the maf sensor so i did and it run better so bought a new maf connected it all back up changed plugs the same time and its still the same.
any idea on this please would be appreciated

Have you tried changing the coil packs? They tend to break down with age and cause the performance issues you mention.

They are about £70 each from subaru, you could take a chance on a second hand set but just because they physically look okay doesn't mean they will work. You say you changed the plugs did you notice any splits on the coil packs plastic casing?
